Add $1,000 per month to your business in 30 days (Challenge)

Alright… So I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything on this blog. I’ve been hyper focused on my money projects. As you’re probably aware from my previous income reports, this blog doesn’t really make me much money. It’s more of just an outlet and a way for me to share what I’m working on and how it’s working. Sometimes I just need to step away from things like my blog for a little bit to get hyper-focused on the projects that bring in the cash…

Things that are currently making me money are The WordPress Classroom, The Elite Marketing Foundation, my niche blogs, and some occasional affiliate promotions of products that I think are great to my email list. If I take long periods of time away from my blog, it’s because I need to focus on the places that are paying the bills. (And trust me, after this tax season, I needed to focus on those things for a bit)

I’m currently knee deep in three projects at the moment and, with this blog post, I’m about to add a forth…

The three projects that I’m working on are:

Beyond The Hype – My partnership with Josh Bartlett. With this project, Josh and I are gathering some of the smartest minds in business and personal development and bringing them in to our “hype-free” zone. We’re getting them to unload as much knowledge as we can possibly squeeze out of them without letting them pitch anything and without any ulterior motives.

The WordPress Classroom 3.0 – The WordPress Classroom is getting a complete facelift. I’m bringing the site in to the modern era with a new intuitive layout and a new sales funnel. More details on this as I make progress.

The Offline Client Method – This is a brand new project that I have not told anyone about yet. I’m partnering with a local San Diego businessman named Josh Grillo. Josh Grillo is the master of the pitch. He’s a guy that can go in to any business and walk out with a service contract. Josh and I are teaming up to teach the business model of helping brick and mortar businesses bring their business online. More details on this one later this month.

The Challenge

I’ll be posting more frequently for a little while because I’d like to experiment with some business models and share the results. In my next post, early next week, I’m going to introduce you to my first (of many) $1k per month challenges.

In these challenges, I’m going to discuss a business model and then give myself 30 days to take that business model from nothing to adding an extra $1,000 per month to my business.

I’m not talking about making an extra $1,000. I’m talking about adding $1,000 every single month to my business. I’m talking about giving myself a raise of $12,000 per year.

Now, with these challenges, I’m giving myself some restrictions and rules. I want to prove that my current status in the industry will have no impact on adding this extra $1,000 per month to my business. I want to prove that my existing lists and websites will have no factor either.

The rules will be:

1. Open a brand new Aweber account… I don’t want to use any of my existing mailing list for these challenges.
2. Use a pen name… I don’t want people to actually know that it’s me in my promotions because this can skew the results if people purchase something because of my name.
3. Keep a diary of everything I do so that I can share it here on the blog.
4. Don’t mention product names or website addresses in the blog posts until the end of the challenge because this can skew results.
5. If the project isn’t profitable within 30 days, drop it completely and move on (but still share the results on the blog).

Now, I’m going to do several of these challenges and I will share the steps I take along the way. The idea being that you can follow along with me as I show you what I do and you can do the same or you can wait until I’m done with a challenge, see how it did, then backtrack and try it yourself.

My first challenge will start early next week and it will revolve around e-mail marketing and purchasing paid traffic. I’ll give you the action steps that I’m going to take and then create followup blog posts along the way to give you results of my action steps.

That’s the idea and the first challenge will be revealed next week. Make sure you check back often because I will probably be posting several shorter blog posts on a more frequent basis to keep you up to date with my progress.

Get ready to learn a really cool business model that I’m confident can add an extra $1,000 per month to ANYONE’S bank account.

  1. Matt,

I am really looking forward to following you with this Challenge. This should be fun and educational. Thanks for doing this!

    Rich Wright

    • Matt says:

Thanks Rich! It should be real interesting because the stuff I’m about to do is stuff that I haven’t focused on in nearly 3 years. It worked back then… Let’s find out if it’s still relevant.

  2. Now those are results I’d like to see, Matt. What a great challenge and the proof of any methods working will be in the results. I’ll be back frequently to see how it’s going.

    Enjoy the journey.

    Mandy

  3. I really enjoy how you’re prepared to raise your head above the pulpit and put your neck on the line with your honesty … and accountability…

Looking forward to watching your journey.

    With smiles from NZ :-)
    Julie

    • Matt says:

Thanks Julie. Hopefully my experiment works. People are claiming that email marketing is dying and that it’s not as effective as it used to be. I’m hoping to prove that wrong.

  4. Geoff says:

Putt’n it on the line Bro. I like your style and looking forward to learning as you go. Stay strong.

  5. Tony Ross says:

Looking forward to hearing about this Matt, could really be doing with a 12K raise! I would say “Good Luck”, but knowing you, I don’t think that luck will have anything to do with it.

  6. Good morning all,

This is another sample of some of the most honest and transparent communications I have ever seen. What Matt is offering to do would scare the pants off most of the so called “Internet Marketers” out there.

I have seen so many faked and dummied up Earnings Reports. It is time for Truth and Honesty. Everyone claims it, talks about and holds themselves up as the EXPERT. But no one is willing to open themselves up to close scrutiny.

This is the most exciting effort I have seen since coming to Internet Marketing. Matt gets my vote…I will be watching, listening and paying close attention with a notebook and pen in hand. I will absolutely be taking notes.

This will turn the industry on its head and take us to a new level. Look out Frank, Eban and Anik….here comes Matt Wolfe…the Real Deal! There’s a new Sheriff in town!!

    • Matt says:

Wow! Thanks so much David. I’m really hoping to prove something here. I want to prove that it’s not as hard as people make it out to be and that anyone who puts in the effort can make it work.

  7. peter says:

    Hey Matt,

Thanks for letting us follow along with this I am sure we will all learn a thing or two. It is a rare thing when a marketer has an open door to what he is really doing and not just selling. Total transparacy with a brand new project is information gold and will follow along with great interest. Good luck on your target..

    • Matt says:

Thanks Peter. I’ll be as transparent as I can be without giving away what my squeeze page is. The second my readers know what my squeeze page is, the experiment is a bit tainted because people will probably opt-in just because they know it’s me.

  8. Hi Matt -

This is just the thing to get a re-charge – it is easy to become complacent so I look forward to following you (and learning) on your journey!

By the way, if ti does not work (which is always a possibility), you are moving on to something else. Great! Too many people would stop right there! It is only a failure, if you don’t learn from it.

    Thanks for sharing so openly!

    Be Well.
    Paul.

    • Matt says:

Hey Paul. Thanks for commenting. There actually is a decent chance that it won’t work. The stuff I’m showing here is the stuff that I was doing over 3 years ago when I first started. I haven’t done it in a while and am honestly not 100% sure that it’s all as effective as it once was. We’ll see though. I’ve got a good feeling. :)

  9. Pete says:

    Hi Matt

That is just a brilliant challenge that will inspire & educate! Much appreciated.

  10. Bruce Arnold says:

    Hi Matt,

What a gutsy thing to do. I’m going to be following closely and look forward to learning from the process. No matter what, there will be valuable lessons from this.

    Best wishes,
    Bruce

    • Matt says:

Absolutely Bruce. I’m hoping I can prove that this stuff still works but there’s really no guarantees. I’ll be learning a lesson myself regardless.

  11. Hi Matt

Great challenge, will be watching, reading and taking notes….

    Good Luck
    Mike

  12. Dan says:

    Hello Matt,

Very cool idea, i was on a marketers list that said they were going to do something similar to this, but after 10 days they FLOPPED didn’t post any updates on how things were going and just abandoned the whole thing.

So I am very interested to see you complete this challenge.

You say you are not going to make $1k but add $1k to your business, so you are going to build a list of 1000 subscribers within the 30day period. This is very good but it would be also beneficial to me and many others to actually prove that it will make you the so called $1k a month. As all subscribers are not created equal, and a 1000 subscriber list does not necessarily mean you will make $1k. So personally I would love to see you complete the challenge create a 1000 subscriber list and maybe in the next 30 days show your monetization strategy e.g. affiliate promotions etc. And document how much money you actually make, that would be very cool.

    Cheers

    :)

    • Matt says:

Hey Dan. I will try to monetize the list and share the results as I go. So I’ll keep everyone in the loop.

  13. Dan says:

    >>>> My BAD, just read your latest blog post. Explains more.

    Cheers

  14. RJ Smith says:

Hey Matt: Well, as someone who has struggled for 8 yrs online and not make One Dollar yet, I’m definitely going to be following you on this project and doing my best to DO whatever you say to do. My ‘goal’ has been to make just $2000.00 a month online, so $1000.00 is a good place to start. It’s refreshing to see an Honest, Open Book Internet Marketer willing to help the LITTLE guy. Now I will Expect 2012 to be my Breakthrough year and maybe a late birthday present. My bday was just May 7th, haha. Cheerz…RJ

    • Matt says:

Thanks RJ. The goal is to teach something that’s not only do-able and easy to follow but also scale-able. So you can, theoretically, take it to whatever level you want. The amount of work put in up front will have a direct correlation on the future income potential.

  15. Richard White says:

I am ready for real tips not squeeze. What are you charging for the challenge?

    • Matt says:

No charge. This will all be freely available on my blog as I do it. I’ll make my money by practicing what I’m teaching. It’s just a bonus that others can learn from it too.

  16. Richard asks a great question….I never considered there might be a charge for this….silly me!

    • Matt says:

No worries. I’m going to keep a journal of this for free on my blog. Like I said to Richard, I’ll be making money off this experiment by doing the experiment itself.

I’m not going to say that I may not sell the info or the case study at some point in the future. But, for right now, I’m just going to keep it all free for all on the blog.

  17. Hi Matt – Excellent timing on this as I’m just about to start my own brand new email list building for a new project – will be following (and learning & implementing) from this this very closely!

  18. Hey Matt,

I think this is a FANTASTIC idea man and I’m really looking forward to the next updates.

I love imposing challenges on myself because that’s how I actually make progress, without them is very easy to start procrastinating (in my case).

Are you going to create a new category for this or how are you going to keep track of the challenge and your regular posts here on BAB?

Thanks in advance and rock on man! ;-)

    Sergio

    • Matt says:

Hey Sergio. To be honest, I’m not 100% sure how I’m going to keep track yet. I’ve created a new category called $1k in 30 days. I’ll probably put a new menu option at the top of the blog for people who want to follow along to this specifically. I’m also putting (Challenge) in the title of all the blog posts so that you can hunt down all the posts.

Once the whole thing is done, I’ll compile all the posts I’ve made along the way and link to them all from one post so everyone has a clear picture of all the journal entries.

  19. Wolfgang says:

Hi Matt, I think your very brave, it will be interesting if you can pull this off without cheating.

    • Matt says:

Haha. What do you mean cheating? I will document where every single opt-in came from and where every single cent came from along the way.

I think it’s impossible for someone to prove to everyone 100% that what they are showing is completely what they are doing. I’m going to do my best to be as transparent as possible. I’ve created a pen name for the product already and created the product already. I’ve also created a new Aweber account and a new Clickbank account so I can prove that I’m starting fresh on this.

I can only do so much to prove to everyone that I’m doing what I’m saying I’m doing.

  20. Rod says:

I have created some content for a website and wish to start uploading the contents to such website. I am yet to design/create this blog/site.I’ve heard of the many advantages in having a blog as your home domain: a website in the form of a blog is advantageous over a static page as a blog earns a higher page ranking than a static website since contents in a blog is always refreshed/added. Higher page ranking based on relevant content therefore, makes it easier for the search engines to find you hence increasing the earning potential of your online business.

However, I want the migration process to be done fairly quickly and fairly easily. Once I have my website/blog up and running, then this will be my starting point/foundation of my online business.

I want my blog to look as cool as this one. Where to go from here??

That’s why I am looking forward to this as it could offer me some highly beneficial insights. Or, am I in the wrong site??

    • Matt says:

      Hey Rod,

Have you checked out the stuff I teach in the WordPress Classroom? That may be helpful for you? You can also look through the archives of this blog. If you’ve got questions feel free to ask them.

  21. Sandy says:

Now THIS is what I like to see! Absolutely fantastic idea. I will be following this with a great deal of concentration. I for one could well do with adding $1000 per month to my income. Just need to decide whether follow your lead on a daily basis or whether to wait until the end of the month and backtrack.

I am also dead keen on finding out more about your offline method as I am very nervously dipping my toes into these waters.

    Thank you and good luck.

    Sandy

    • Matt says:

      Hey Sandy,

Who couldn’t use an extra $1k per month. If I was you, I would start on the things you can do now… Create a free report, create a squeeze page, open an Aweber account… Get those going now and hold off on purchasing paid traffic to them until you see my results at the end. The paid methods I’m using are still a test to me so I’m not even 100% sure which ones will and won’t be effective yet.

      Thanks for commenting!

  22. Mel says:

    Matt,
This will be very interesting to follow as I have been trying for 2 years to make money on line and have failed to do so, yet. I hope I can benefit from your challenge. Good Luck!!
    Mel

    • Matt says:

Thanks Mel. Email marketing is a very lucrative business. Just getting that list started is the difficult part. That’s what I hope to make simple with this series of posts.

  23. Matt, I’m in and I can’t wait to see rewards rolling in. Your a great person to care about us in this way, we all know you could have done this alone but to take the extra effort and include the many struggling marketers shows great character. I pray God gives wisdom in our journey of building a community of HONEST marketers. >

    • Matt says:

Thanks Darryl. If you do follow along. Please post your results as we go. I’m sure everyone would love to see them!
