So I have a lot of stuff that I want to talk about and get off my chest today. This blog post is going to seem like it’s all over the place. I felt it would be better to get all this discussion out in one post instead of spread it over several but I’d love to hear your opinion on that as well. In fact, today I’m going to ask for your opinion on several topics because it’s really going to effect the direction that I take with this blog. Your feedback will shape this website. So please bare with me and read it all. Give me as much feedback as possible in the comments and I will do my best to take the comments to heart and tailor this blog around you guys.
Easy Video Player / Elite Marketing Foundation
Recently I formed a new business with my long time friend, Josh Bartlett. We are in the process of creating a membership called The Elite Marketing Foundation. There’s already a lot of buzz going around the industry about this because we have several big name marketers lined up to take part and help create content. This is going to be a pretty ground-breaking program. Josh and I share the same business philosophies and ethics and we are going to aim to teach the fact that you can be a hugely successful marketer and be ethical at the same time. To teach this, we are going to be implementing some brand new technology that tracks progress, awards achievements, and continually encourages action. It will be set up in a way that pretty much guarantees that any person who takes action and follows through will succeed.
Anyway, before the Elite Marketing Foundation is officially released, I teamed up with Josh to help him make his launch of Easy Video Player as huge as possible. The new version of EVP has so many new features that I’m not even going to begin to explain them all. There’s just too many to list. Easy Video Player will be officially released on October 19th and anyone who grabs it will get a first look in to the Elite Marketing Foundation. That will be our official unveiling.
Why am I telling you all this? Well first off, I want you to be as excited about the Elite Marketing Foundation and Easy Video Player as I am and second off, I would love to see you help promote Easy Video Player. I won’t go in to detail here about how much money it can make you or how cool all the new features are… If you are interested in helping out check out this page that explains everything.
Autopilot Cash Formula is Closing For Good
Most of you have already grabbed the Autopilot Cash Formula and all of the kind feedback has been amazing. However, October 8th will be the last day that this program will be available. I am shutting the doors for good and I don’t think I will ever reopen them.
I know you’re probably thinking that this is some sort of scarcity tactic but it’s really not. I have decided that I am going to simplify my business. From this point on, I will have two flagship products. I am going to continue to focus on The WordPress Classroom (The program that started it all for me) and the Elite Marketing Foundation (my new joint venture with Josh). So in order to simplify, I’m going to lower the price a little and then leave sales open for the next week or so before closing it down for good.
Now… That basically concludes the announcement portion of this post. Now to the things that I need your opinion on
Do you care about my health?
About 3 1/2 weeks ago I discovered an online health program. I’m not going to mention the name of the product right now but it was being promoted by some really big name marketers. My health has been something that I’ve let slip over the past year or so since I quit my job. I stopped working out and I ate crap food constantly. Not unexpectedly, I packed on some pounds…
I found this product and decided, “yea… I’m going to start eating healthy again and I’m going to follow this exercise regimen. I’ve stuck with this consistently for around 3 1/2 weeks now and I’ve already noticed some great results. My friends and family think I’m crazy because I’ve sacrificed a lot of delicious foods and I’ve never missed a day working out.
I recently came to the conclusion that maintaining your health is almost identical to building and maintaining a successful online business. The same philosophies apply. It is all about discipline. If you have the discipline to do exactly what you know you need to do every single day, you will reach your goals. Don’t get sidetracked and always keep your eyes on the end goal and you will see results. Discipline is the key to success in anything you do. I can say with almost 100% certainty that most people who haven’t made it online, haven’t made it because they haven’t maintained the proper discipline to do everything that they know they should be doing every single day…
Anyway, before I go off on a rant here… My question to you is, do you care or would you be interested in hearing about my successes and struggles with fitness and becoming as healthy as I can be? I know you probably think that it has little to do with blogging or marketing but I tend think differently. I think it all ties together. I may even share the exact program I’m on now and possibly (scary) before & after photos.
I’d love to hear your opinions on the idea.
How often should a blogger post?
This is a strange question for me to ask because well… I run the WordPress Classroom. However, this is something that I’ve really struggled with. I have lots of great ideas for blog posts but I’m afraid to post too frequently.
On one hand, I can post constantly. I probably have enough ideas to make one post per day. However, if I do that, I’m afraid people will get overwhelmed. I won’t have as big of an audience per post. On the other hand, if I only post about once per month, I get a ton of comments and a ton of feedback on every single post. Everything I do gets a ton of exposure, however, I’m not sharing as much content as I would like to. It’s been a tough internal debate.
I would love to hear your feedback on how often someone should post. How often would you want to hear from me? Once per month, once per week, a few times per week? What do you think? Let’s get a discussion going about this specific topic because I really think that this is a common struggle.
If you want to hear from me a few times per week on this blog, just let me know. I just want to make sure you’ll keep coming back and reading what I have to say and leaving awesome comments. If you can promise me that, I’ll make sure to share with you more often and provide as much value as possible.
Do you want to meet up?
Last but not least, I just wanted to mention that I’m going to be hitting a couple seminars in November. If you want to meet up and talk business, let me know. Leave comments if you are going to be at either of these events.
I’ll be at the info-summit in Baltimore between November 11th and November 14th and I will be at AffiliateDotCom Live in Las Vegas between November 19th and November 21st. If you’re interested in meeting up and talking biz, just let me know. We can definitely work something out.
Quick Little Poll
Can you do me a huge favor and answer these questions in a comment below?
1) Would you be interested in hearing more about my journey to get healthy?
2) How often would you want to hear from me on this blog?
3) Will you be at info-summit or AffiliateDotCom Live?
Thanks so much and I can’t wait to read your comments. I will do my best to respond to everyone who posts!

Hey Matt,
I love reading blogs, but I find that 1-2 times a week is about the limit. I know some people post several times a day, which to me is overkill.I’d rather get good content once a week than be inundated with mediocre blogs 24/7. There is a happy medium, but many bloggers get so wrapped up in what they think is great stuff, that they forget to consider what the reader wants. Thanks for asking and giving your readers a chance to offer their 5 cents worth.
Keep on blogging!!
Hey Eileen,
Thanks so much for the feedback. When I first started blogging I tried to keep up with a lot of blogs. The blogs that posted multiple times per day were just too much to keep up with. I would try to keep up and actually stress out if I fell behind. More than once per day is definitely way too much.
Thanks so much for commenting
Matt
Hey Matt!
I think it would be great to hear about your progress with your healthy-ness. I think that anything that folks post on their blogs about them learning or discovering new things, setting and achieving goals, or even the process of this is very valuable to others – it can help folks identify with you, because lots of folks are in the same boat.
Blogging.. hmm.. I think that the frequency probably depends on the “interestingness” of the blog title, and how often you are trying to sell or market something. It’s probably the 80/20 rule with this, who knows. Or at least 50/50 – get folks to know you 50% and then talk about things you are marketing or skills the other 50%.
Hey Scott,
Thanks a lot for commenting. I definitely agree with you. Health, unlike blogging and marketing, is something that everyone deals with and everyone discusses. It may not be relevant to the overall theme of this blog but I definitely think it’s something that can still appeal to pretty much all readers…
As far as blogging, I try to keep the marketing to a minimum and the content to a maximum. I like to use it as a platform to a) teach, b) share my progress, and c) give the occasional insight in to my personal life. It does give me the platform to occasionally market products but it’s definitely not one of my main priorities with this blog.
I appreciate the feedback!
Matt
Yes I thing a blog on your health would be good. Anyone that you would hear from would help you on your journey to better health. I am 61 and let myself go and I am working on my own problems . It feels good to get encouragement from others. I like to get updates on blogs I am following about once a week unless something comes up in the news that would be good to be informed of. Last I am a newbie to marketing so I will not be attending seminars in the near future. I am new to your blog this week and have enjoyed all I have read so far . Thanks Joe in NE Ohio
Hi Joe,
Thanks for the kind words. I’m glad you have enjoyed the content that I’ve put on here so far.
I think as far as frequency, I’m tending to lean toward once to twice per week but I’d still love to hear everyone’s feedback on the idea. I’m just hoping that if I crank up the frequency of the posts, I still receive just as much comments and feedback.
Thanks again,
Matt
Hi Matt,
1) I personally would love to hear more about your journey to get healthy. Eating healthy and being fit are big issues in our society where many tend to pack on the pounds. We are bombarded with a lot of “junk food”, so it is always great to hear (and see) from people who have succeeded in their battle to stay on the right path and take care of their health and wellbeing.
2) I think once a week, or even once a fortnight would be great. I, too, find too many posts overwhelming. I am sure lots of your readers have an overstuffed inbox with emails they can’t tend to, let alone read, so if there is one post from you once a week or fortnight it will be more valuable and more likely to be read. Makes sense?
3) Unfortunately I can’t, I am in Australia with 2 little children, no traveling here!
Thanks for all you do for us bloggers. Keep up the good work!
Petra
Hi Petra,
Great to hear from you. I can always count on you for some input!
I agree with you on the health thing. I also really believe that health does tie in to success online. Staying healthy strengthens the mind and gives more energy to accomplish task throughout the day.
Once a week sounds like a great goal for blogging frequency. That’s just about what I’m leaning towards. My one monthly blog post doesn’t quite feel like enough to really give what I want to give.
I really appreciate your feedback!
Matt
Hey Matt,
Glad to read you’re doing something positive about your health. I’m guessing we could all benefit from eating healthier, as well as a little more exercise. On the flip side, if I’m exercising more, when will I have time to learn and earn online?
Kidding aside, I believe one post per week is sufficient; two if you’ve got something exciting to share with us. I kinda look at it like the number of emails I get from the different lists I subscribe to – anything more than twice a week is overkill. When this happens, I unsubscribe.
Take care,
Fred S.
Hi Fred,
Thanks for the input. I do my workouts every morning before starting to work. I feel that it gives me the energy and mental clarity to accomplish everything I want through the day.
Sounds like the general consensus is that once a week or so is just about right for a blog. I’ll definitely take that in to consideration. I find that I work best when I set guidelines for myself. I.E. I will make a new blog post every Tuesday… Giving myself those constraints and deadlines really helps me make sure I stay on track with my goals.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Matt
Hi Matt,
Yes, would be interesting to hear about your journey back to health and fitness. Always good to get new ideas in this arena.
I would lean towards a blog post about once per week. That gives everyone a chance to find the time to read and hopefully implement what your are teaching.
No, won’t be at either of the summits. Not that far along in my business yet!
You do provide good info and I appreciate your down to earth style.
Hi Tina,
Thanks so much for the feedback. I appreciate the kind words I’m glad you’ve enjoyed what I’ve written. I’ll do my best to keep high quality stuff on my blog, even if I do blog about once per week.
Thanks again,
Matt
Hi Matt,
Really looking forward to the launch of Easy video Player 2.0 I have the original version but it’s taken me until recently to get the hang of video marketing. ..thanks to some help from your mate Joe Fier.
The Elite Marketing program sounds interesting. Will it be forum based like we have for Marketing with Alex?
I would be very interested in your “health program”. At 65 and living in a remote Thai village, at least the food is great and non-fattening.
Blog posting for me is a bit of a challenge as well. It’s been nearly a month since my last post and I’m about to correct that soon. But for me to be able to see new stuff on your blog every week would be great mate.
Sorry about Baltimore and Las Vegas….way too far from my Thai village…but I would love the opportunity to meet you one day. Ever been to Thailand?
Best wishes and stay healthy
Peter
Hey Matt-
Kudos to you for getting healthy. I’m training for my first marathon to be run in 2 weeks so I share your zest to be healthy. I would think that perhaps attempting to intertwine some analogies for healthy habits while providing tips for blogging or WP might work best…only so that you stay with your branding of who you are as a marketer.
I think that posting 2-3 times per week is great if you have great content to share. Personally, I don’t even have a problem with those that post every day…if it’s mostly helpful content and tips. Where most go wrong I believe is when that ratio becomes very lopsided with affiliate offers and mostly selling you something.
I may possibly get to Baltimore and if so, I’ll reach out to you again. I’ll be in St. Thomas during the Las Vegas dates so won’t be there…wanted to go too as I was hoping to meet Chris Farrell.
Keep up the great work and looking forward to the learning more about the Elite Marketing Foundation.
Cheers!
Doug
how Often to post blogs–depends on type of website. If it’s an obsessed fan who follows celebrities, once a day is it. But in general I recommend about once a week.
Hi Matt Thanks for the info and in answer to your questions.#1 Yes it would be nice to hear your progress on the health issue ,I agree it’s all related.Without health we can have no wealth. #2 I think posting perhaps 3-4 times a month would be good as I prefer quality over quantity. #3 No I will not be attending. Now can I ask you a question? As I am new at this IM ,Do you think it would be better to start with a blog and affiliate marketing? Or I have been hearing a lot about mobile phone marketing which is somewhat different from IM.What do you think would be better to start learning and can you build an email list with mobile phone marketing?I would really like to hear your opinion and also the opinions of your readers. Thanks again….A.G.
Hey Matt,
First, I agree getting and keeping healthy is important and will improve your productivity and success. From the time I was 13 years old until about 30 or so I ate healthy and went to the gym 3 to 4 times a week. Then the full time started, family, and I let it go and started smoking. I can tell you first hand it has dramatically reduced my energy levels and mental focus. And I’ve been thinking about my health for the last few years without taking action. Recently, I started reading a great book called the Easy Way to Stop Smoking by Allan Carr and believe this will finally help me quit the habit. After that I plan to go on a detox diet and get rid of all the toxins that have build up in my body over the years. And of course eat healthier and start to exercise regularly.
And I’d love to hear more about your journey to health. The only thing is I’m not sure if it would be a good idea to include everything on this blog. Perhaps some of it but I would suggest starting a separate blog for that. What do you and your readers think?
How Often to Blog?
I think when you first launch a blog that you should post 5 to 7 days a week for a month. And those should be top quality content. In fact, I’d suggest anyone write all of their 30 posts before posting the first one. First, this will fill your blog with quality content. Second, it will get the search engines to take notice and help you get indexed and ranked. After that I’d say once or twice a week.
What do you think of this? I’m working on launching my blog and that’s my plan. So any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
And one day I hope to attend Internet marketing conferences and meet you and all the fantastic marketers I’ve met so far.
Thanks so much for your excellent post!
And all the best with your two online ventures!
Talk soon
Eric Bonnici
Hi Matt
Looking forward to EVP 2 – sounds like a great innovation.
From my point of view I try to get a blog post out once per weel these days. I find this a happy medium between doing just enough and not too much.
So many marketers (in IM) are competing for the same ground these days I think if you do too much you are damned and too little people forget about you
I agree on the lifestyle discipline thing. I have a background of keeping fit so have retained a level without doing much but am not getting any younger so perhaps need to take a leaf out of your book and start training properly and regularly
Regards
Pete
Hey Matt,
I know your health may not exactly be related to Internet Marketing but I would personally love to know your struggles in your plans to get healthy and fit on this blog.
Don’t know about anyone else, but I have a terrible diet since working online, sometimes hardly eating at all, or eating a sandwich in front of the pc!
Your on a journey online, leaps and bounds ahead of me, but I would love to watch you every step of the way and hopefully learn from you.
I bought EVP version 1 on your recommendation and have been very satisfied with it, wish there was a discount upgrade offer for the new version, but I will still be upgrading as I just know that the new and improved EVP will be wayyyyy better.
I don’t mind how often you blog, I know you could easily churn out very helpful and insightful blog posts day in and day out, but with time being an issue I am scared I may not be able to read all the posts as your’s is not the only blog I visit.
Weekly, or fortnightly blog posts from your would be FAB, sometimes LESS IS MORE!
Speak soon Matt, I can’t meet ya as I won’t be at any of those events, but hopefully I can meet you some other time, Sally
1) Well, with health issues being a major part of our society these days and more and more health products joining the ever lengthening ques of affiliate products, as well as every drug store and pharmacy shelf on the planet, it’s pretty difficult not to take notice. Although your efforts to get fit and healthy are commendable and I wish you all the best with them, personally unlike everyone else who has posted before me, I’ll be honest in saying I’m not really interested in reading about your progress. Sorry just being honest.
2) I think it’s also fair to assume that most of us follow more than one blog. I, like everyone else have favorites and yours is certainly one of them, however I try to manage my time in constructive and educational ways by being open minded to several. By restricting my individual “blog browsing” time to around half an hour per day I get to read and follow my favorite 4 pretty closely and once a week is fine with me unless there is a revolutionary topic I need to know about. In which case one of my favorite bloggers will undoubtedly let me know and being a follower of yours, it could possibly be you anyway.
I find it too easy to get completely submerged in reading other blogs rather than posting on my own.
3) That’s the problem with the internet. We are all part of a community which spreads over the globe. I’m down under in the land of Oz so I guess I won’t be there.
Hi Matt,
Of course just about everyone would like to hear about your progress with your health. However, I think that holds true with anything personal. I believe that you should share personal things about your life and include the progress of your health. Balance is everything in life, not just in marketing and blogging.
As I follow many blogs and forums I think that your blog posting should be once per week. Maybe twice per week, one being a personal note and the other internet/affiliate related. Any more than that would be a bit much. After all, you already have a following and a list, and you do not need to grow your business fast any more. The quality of content, like your WPC will always be the key to vested followers and buyers.
I can’t make any of the meet-ups, but would love to do meet you sometime and talk business.
By the way, I love the WordPress Classroom. All of the information is fantastic but the forum really rocks!
One thing I think you should consider is offering free video seminars (Maybe once every couple of months) to your list. It would be great for your followers and for your business. You can use GoToMeeting, do the video instruction and then actually converse with use in a Q&A session after the content is put out. Please consider this.
Hey Matt,
The health thing is something I am considering doing with my own blog.
I have been going on a downward spiral with my own health and fitness for about the past five years and haven’t done any exercise/sport for about a year since injuring my knee playing football (sah-kerrr as it’s known as in the US
).
The weight is going on as fast as the muscle tone is disappearing and I feel a million miles away from the gym-rat physique I enjoyed during my early 20s…
I agree with you entirely, health/fitness correlates perfectly with online success because it’s true about what the experts say about a healthy body and healthy mind.
I was going to do the P90x program because I feel too lazy to go to the gym and the last few attempts at going saw me do little work in favour of moping around wishing I wasn’t there…
I think some roided up drill instructor shouting at me via my TV screen and working to a countdown timer would be a more effective use of my workout time.
Going through some neck/shoulder problems at the moment so I need to get that fixed before I embark on a fitness regime but I will leave it till the new year – the 90 day workout/healthy eating plan isn’t going to work over the Christmas period.
It’s an awesome idea to chronicle it on your blog and will give your readers an insight into your life ‘behind the scenes’.
Blogs are motivational and well as just sharing information and if you can tie in a marketing story then it will work.
Looking forward to seeing the before and after shots to kick my own ass into gear…
Speak soon,
David
Matt,
I am looking forward to the new EVP with Josh. I was planning on getting in the next day or so but I was chatting with Joe Fier and he mentioned the new version coming out. I’ll pick it up then
Your health matters to me. I am starting up again myself. I’m 50 and it is much harder to keep it off at my age. Good luck.
As far as posting. It just depends on who you ask I guess. I am working on a clients blog and I post once a day but only on weekdays. Other ProBloggers recommend several times a day. That is a lot of posts! Good luck on that decision too.
Take care – Scott
Hi Matt,
It would be really interesting to see your adventures to becoming healthier. You are spot on with the comparison of having the discipline for owning a online business and being healthier. Staying fit is something that I have a lot of dedication. Now only if I can slightly change my mindset towards making money online.
Don’t forget you are allowed a cheat meal once a week…
I personally feel that depending what you are trying to accomplish on a blog matters how many times you post to it. As long as the information is quality I real would not mind reading it on a daily basis. But it in order for this to happen you will need to have a list of guest writers. Once a week would work for me.
Sorry will not be attending any of the summits this time around. Living overseas makes it a bit difficult.
Looking forward to your updated posts.
Regards,
Steve
Hi Matt
First: I would love to hear about your fitness regime. This will encourage you to continue with the program when you feel like give up. Actually, my first blog was about me starting a weight loss program and reporting to the blog on a regular basis, this was the incentive I needed at the time.
Second: How often to blog? I think at least once a week and maybe 2 or 3 times a week if you have more time.
Third: Sorry but I will have to miss the seminars as I live in the UK.
Good luck with the new progam.
Claude
Hey Matt…
I would really be interested in your health product, as I am introducing one myself in a very short time. The health and wellness niche is HUGE, as you know, and is getting very exciting with all the new breakthroughs and such.
I agree with at least once a week, but honestly, I like hearing from you more often. You always have great stuff that adds to my knowledge base.
Sure wish I could make it to either of those, but leaving my wife alone with 4 kids would be hazardous to my health:)
Please!,PLEASE!! P L E A S E !!! Take care of your health! I had 4 people this year that I knew and greatly respected die on me this year. Three of which was from cancer, and the other was heart disease. Truly, I tell you there is no future without good health! Three of them weren’t that old.
Hard to say how often you should post. I suppose it all depends on what you are trying to accomplish with the post. If you’re trying to create a relationship with your readers, you will probably need to post at the very least once a week. In two weeks time they might even forget you exist. If your just trying to promote a new project or product and very informative blog about it and some follow up emails might be enough for each project or product your promoting. A new blog when something new develops with the promotion is probably needed also.
Love to meet but just not emotionally and financially able to do that this year.
About how often to blog: if you are conveying solid, informative, helpful content without peddling anything – once a day. If you are rambling, with content that may be interesting but of no practical use, maybe twice a week, max. If you are peddling something – once a week, max (unless it is some kind of launch situation). I base this on personal experience. In recent months, I have done a lot of unsubscribing and kept a tab over my patterns. What I have written above is pretty much what I found out about my own preferences.
Hey Matt,
My partner Glen Wayne and I met you at Alex Jeffreys workshop in Vegas in Jan. you have an awesome site and excellent value. keep up the great work.
1) I would love to hear about your health journey. Bring it on…
2) We won’t be attending those events you mentioned this year as we are working on a big project, but will attend many more events next year, and look forward to meeting you again.
3) I’d like to see you post about once every week or two. You have a lot to offer and I think it would be fun for you to “get it off your chest” more frequently.
Take Care,
Dan Tredo
My business partner, Dan Tredo posted ahead of me, he is a great person to work with. As he said, we met you at Alex’s workshop in Vegas. Dan and I just met Joel Comm for the first time last week, he is now sharing his efforts to get in shape (online) and you really should share your health journey. I think it would be a mistake to NOT do it.
On the marketing events topic, I go quite often to attend marketing events. Matt, keep us posted on any events you are attending as I had really hoped I would find you at some of the events I have attended.
I bought you Autopilot Cash Formula and really like it. Great job on that product!
As far as blog posts, a couple times per week is great.
Wishing you continue success,
Glen Wayne
Hello Matt, As far as your health is concerned, I would like to hear of your experience mainly because that is the biz I am involved in.(Check out my site, it’s still in the early stages) If you need a meal replacement, we have the best, or if your interested in a Nutritional Superdrink, we have that. And the best part is you can start your own biz with a free website. http://myui.com/betterhealth4you
Now as far as posting, with my healthsite, I like to blog as much as possible, only because there is so much info I need to share.
As far as meeting up with you, that would be great but it would be nearly impossible for me at this time. Have you thought about a webinar? That could be done and I would definiately be interested.
Keep up the great work with WP Classroom !
1) Would you be interested in hearing more about my journey to get healthy?
Definitely.. for whatever reasons, we get emotionally attached to online journals and stuff… and it could set for a great product if you succeed
2) How often would you want to hear from me on this blog?
Once a month is in my opinion a good timeframe to post.
3) Will you be at info-summit or AffiliateDotCom Live?
I’d love too, but I’ll have to wait until I’m able to quit my job.
Keep up the good work Matthew
Howdy Matt,
BEER – if you can get healthy while still drinking too much beer I’d like to hear about it.
WEEKLY – I can’t even handle doubles sex any more often than this.
MUCHAS GRACIAS – This electronic bracelet and me aren’t going anywhere.
I really, really like your videos, blog and ideas. Someday soon I hope you can make some loot off me.
Later, Matt.
Barry
